A Virtual Actress Takes the Spotlight: Tilly Norwood Stars in Misaligned
The virtual actress Tilly Norwood is set to star in the film Misaligned, a project by Particle6 that explores the intersection of AI and human identity.

Imagine a film featuring an actress who doesn’t exist in the traditional sense. This may sound far-fetched, but it’s becoming a reality with the rise of artificial intelligence in cinema.

The unsettling advance of AI is reaching new heights, as fears among actors about the impact of technology on their profession are materializing. A virtual actress is set to make her cinematic debut, and her face might already be familiar to many.
Tilly Norwood: The AI-Generated Star
The British studio Particle6 has officially announced that Tilly Norwood, a character created by AI, will star in their upcoming film, Misaligned. This innovative project is the brainchild of Eline Van der Velden, who founded the AI talent studio Xicoia in 2025. Currently, Norwood boasts over 159,000 followers on Instagram, illustrating her growing presence in the digital landscape.
The plot of Misaligned revolves around a charming yet manipulative robot that encourages Tilly Norwood to break free from caution and embrace her own desires and ambitions. According to Particle6, the film promises to be "a coming-of-age story infused with existential chaos related to AI.” Eline Van der Velden has added that the film will be "undeniably funny, chaotic, and self-aware, very much like Tilly.”
While no release date has been announced yet, the director has a vision for the film that goes beyond mere entertainment. She notes, "Beneath this layer, there’s something deeper about identity, performance, and our very human fears regarding AI. Yes, art will clearly imitate life.”
Bridging the Gap Between Filmmakers and AI
In her statement, Van der Velden expressed her desire to reconcile filmmakers with artificial intelligence, aiming to "help traditional filmmakers who join the team to refine their skills and adapt to a world where AI" plays an increasing role. She believes that AI will soon become an integral part of the film industry.
Furthermore, Van der Velden is convinced that "the filmmakers who will thrive in the coming decade will be those who harness their decades of narrative instinct to leverage these new tools.” It remains to be seen how audiences will respond to a film entirely driven by AI.
