Gautier's Shocking Discovery
Victoire shows Audrey a book that Martin gave her the previous day: it is her copy of "The Count of Monte Cristo," which she had gifted to Astrid at the end of their summer camp. Victoire and Audrey are determined to take advantage of their time with Astrid before she departs.
Meanwhile, Erica visits Chloé to recount the unsettling encounter she had when Gautier followed her in the street the day before. She admits that his words have left her questioning Astrid's intentions.
At the police station, an alarming call comes in from a passerby who reports a body found at the base of a cliff. Martin and Nordine rush to the scene, initially fearing that the sea has finally returned Astrid's body. To their shock, they discover it is Gautier's remains.
Damien soon informs them that Gautier's car is parked nearby, with no signs of forced entry. However, evidence of a struggle is present close to the body, leading to the conclusion that either he was pushed or murdered and then discarded. Damien estimates that the death occurred the previous evening, pending confirmation from the medical examiner.
In a parallel storyline, Erica and Chloé head to the hotel where Astrid had been hiding, only to find her room empty and her belongings gone. A note left behind reads: "Thank you for everything. Don’t look for me; I’ve already caused you too much trouble."
Erica and Chloé quickly alert Audrey and Victoire, who gather at Audrey's place. At that moment, Audrey receives a call from her husband, breaking the news of Gautier's death. Chloé jumps to the conclusion that Astrid must be responsible for his demise and has fled, possibly having planned the whole thing to create a solid alibi regarding the drowning story. However, Victoire is unwilling to betray her friend, pleading for 24 hours to find Astrid and get answers before involving the police.
Marceau's Unfortunate Attempt
At La Paillote, Marceau is feeling envious of Kevin and Ellie, who have both received gifts for their excellent results in the baccalaureate exams. He vents his frustrations about his mother's lack of support and gifts. Nevertheless, his mood improves when he learns that Sofia's date did not go well.
Later, Sofia treats Marceau, Kevin, and Ellie to drinks to celebrate their achievements, especially during the heatwave. As the evening progresses, Marceau, feeling bold, sneaks a bottle of alcohol from the bar and adds it to his drink when Sofia's back is turned.
By closing time, Marceau is intoxicated and helps Sofia clean up the tables and chairs, attempting to kiss her. She recoils, immediately detecting the alcohol on his breath and firmly tells him that nothing will ever happen between them.
A Heartwarming Gesture for Mona
At Spoon, Mona is in a gloomy mood, feeling humiliated after being the victim of a scam. Her spirits are further dampened by an article that has surfaced in the press about her plight.
In a surprising turn of events, the real Jean-Marc Généreux arrives at the establishment to meet her and apologize for the inconvenience he inadvertently caused. Mona is overwhelmed by his presence and eagerly invites him to sample one of her dishes while he is there.
