For Argentina, football transcends mere sport; it embodies identity, pride, and passion. The fervor surrounding the team is palpable, especially when Lionel Messi steps onto the pitch, imbuing the game with an almost divine quality.

Schweinsteiger, now an ARD expert, expressed a sense of melancholy as he observed the passion displayed on the field. "I watch with a bit of sadness," he remarked, reflecting on his own experience as a World Cup champion in 2014 against Argentina. Now, he finds himself in awe of the Albiceleste's current success.

A Call for German Pride

The former midfielder longs to see the German national team recapture that level of pride and achievement. "I would love to see our national team create something special again. It hurts a little to watch and see how other nations are performing," he admitted.

Schweinsteiger attributes much of Argentina's success to their coach, Lionel Scaloni. He emphasized, "It’s hard to put into words what he has created. The pride the players have, playing for their fans, is incredible."

With their place in the final secured, where they will face European champions Spain in New Jersey, Schweinsteiger believes Argentina's advancement is entirely "deserved."

Impressive Resilience

The way Argentina rallied after falling behind to Anthony Gordon's goal impressed him greatly. "It was tough once again, but they managed to turn the game around. Unbelievable. It was gigantic. The force that Argentina has created: hats off!" he concluded, highlighting the team's remarkable resilience and spirit.
