Is Olise Heading to Real Madrid? Matthäus Discusses Bayern's Stance
Is Michael Olise really heading to Real Madrid? Lothar Matthäus shares his insights on Bayern's plans for the young star amidst transfer speculation.

Speculation surrounding Michael Olise's potential move to Real Madrid has stirred considerable interest in football circles. Reports from L'Équipe suggest that the French winger is eager to leave Bayern Munich and join the Spanish giants, where he would reunite with national teammates Kylian Mbappe, Ibrahima Konate, and Aurelien Tchouameni. However, the veracity of these rumors remains to be seen.
Matthäus Weighs in on Olise's Transfer Rumors
Lothar Matthäus, a legendary figure in German football, believes that Bayern fans need not worry about losing their star player. In a recent segment of the Bild show "Lothar legt los," Matthäus stated, "I have not heard anything from Spain or France. But I know what Bayern Munich thinks about Olise." He emphasized that the club has no intention of selling the player, indicating that they might even look to extend his contract and increase his salary. This sentiment appears to be echoed in various reports from German media, suggesting that a sale is not on the table for the record champions.

However, if Olise were to express a genuine desire to move and Real Madrid pursued him seriously, Matthäus could understand the allure. "Of course, it’s understandable if someone receives an offer from Real Madrid or if they show interest in the player. It’s an honor when such a prestigious club is interested," he remarked. Matthäus himself had a similar experience in 1991 when he received an offer from the Blancos and was even close to a transfer, although it ultimately did not materialize. Whether Olise's situation will mirror Matthäus's remains uncertain, but it is clear that Real Madrid has been monitoring the Frenchman.
Real Madrid's Official Statement on Olise
Rumors about Olise's potential transfer gained traction during the World Cup, prompting Real Madrid to issue a public denial. The club clarified, "In light of the information circulating in various media regarding our supposed interest in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid wishes to state that there has been no direct or indirect contact with the mentioned player, his representatives, or individuals from his entourage."
