The month of May has been exceptional on the electric vehicle front, just like March. Indeed, with 37,853 registrations of electric passenger vehicles, it accounts for nearly 30% market share! Precisely 29.5% according to AAA Data figures compiled by Avere. This is practically a doubled market compared to May 2025, which was sluggish.
At €2/liter, is fuel a trigger?

The most registered model in May is the Tesla Model Y with 3,877 units. It outpaces the Renault 5 E-Tech, which continues to perform exceptionally well, with 3,040 units. The Renault Scenic is a distant 3rd with 1,640 units in one month. The Scenic is performing well commercially, better than the Mégane. For once, we have deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 in bulk with 1,561 registrations, ahead of the Mégane, which stands at 1,298 units.
It is worth noting that the entire top 10 is above 1,000 registrations. And where is the Peugeot e-208? Far behind… 1,044 units. Much like the Zoe before it, the 208 suffers from its outdated design and awaits its replacement, theoretically presented next year.
Will the Model Y surpass the Renault 5 E-Tech?
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 16,449 Renault 5 E-Tech registrations. The R5 is the 5th most registered model, across all powertrains. With several large deliveries, the Model Y is close behind, at just 16,000 units, in 8th position.
When we say that the Renault Scenic is performing well commercially, it totals 10,634 registrations at the 16th position in the French market. The Citroën Ë-C3 is slightly slowing down, but this is likely to better excel in social leasing. 7,023 units and 25th place in the French market.
We add 5,542 VW ID.4, 5,153 Tesla Model 3, or 4,842 Renault Megane E-Tech, 4,525 Renault 4 (which is starting to find its place) and 4,158 VW ID.3.
